March 23, 2025, at 0930hrs, Deputy Government Spokesperson Sasikarn Watthanachan disclosed about the registration for foreign business licenses under the Foreign Business Act, B.E. 2542 during the first two months of 2025 (January – February 2025) that the number of registrations for new foreign business licenses has totaled 41 applications, and business certificates, 140 applications, with the total investment of 35,277 million Baht, an increase of 33%. Employment of Thai labors has also increased by 140%, with 1,344 being employed.
Top 5 foreign investors are: 1) Japan, 38, accounting for 21%, with an investment of 13,676 million Baht; 2) China, 23, accounting for 13%, with an investment of 5,113 million Baht; 3) Singapore, 23, accounting for 13%, with an investment of 4,490 million Baht; 4) United States, 19, accounting for 11%, with an investment of 1,372 million Baht; and 5) Hong Kong, 16, accounting for 9%, with an investment of 1,587 million Baht.
The number of foreign investment in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) in the past 2 months is recorded at 57 investors, accounting for 31%, an increase of 63% with an investment value of 17,546 million Baht. Among these, 19 are from Japan (8,096 million Baht), 14 from China (2,751 million Baht), 8 from Singapore (2,191 million Baht), and 16 from other countries (4,508 million Baht).
Foreign business investment and operation have significantly contributed to knowledge and technology transfer from the investing countries to Thailand. According to the Deputy Government Spokesperson, the Government commits to promoting the country as regional investment hub, and strives to attract investments that will help upgrade industries and enhance Thailand’s global competitiveness and sustainable economic growth.
