Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026 ready to welcome visitors from Nov 1, 2026 to Mar 14, 2027
October 28, 2026, Deputy Government Spokesperson Captain Patdarasm Thongsaluaykorn disclosed that the Government, through Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, is now fully prepared for the launch of Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026, to be held during November 1, 2026 to March 14, 2027. The expo, which is prepared and organized in accordance with the international standard, is intended to create economic opportunities, and promote Thailand as a country and tourist destination with high agricultural potentials.
The event is expected to attract over 3.6 million visitors, generate over 20 billion Baht in economic value for the country, create more than 81,000 jobs, and contribute over 7.7 billion Baht in tax revenue to the Government. Hospitality, restaurant, and transportation businesses, as well as local entrepreneurs, are expected to benefit from the increased income opportunities. At the same time, preparations to accommodate visitors will also contribute to infrastructure development and improve the quality of life for residents of Udon Thani province and surrounding areas.
An additional budget allocation of 250 million Baht, representing 10% of the total project budget of 2.5 billion Baht, is in line with the recommendations of International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH), the organization that granted Thailand the right to host the event. Following its inspection of the preparation progress in December 2025 when roughly 40% of the work had been completed, AIPH determined that certain aspects required further improvement to meet the prescribed exhibition standards. The Organizing Committee, therefore, increased the budget to enhance the event's readiness and quality.
Aside from its economic benefits, Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026 will provide Thailand with an opportunity to showcase its rich biodiversity and agricultural innovations to international visitors, while expanding green spaces in Udon Thani and the upper Northeastern region. The Government intends to transform the site, after the expo concludes, into an international convention and exhibition center, a venue for agricultural products and innovation display, and a permanent public park and eco-tourism destination for the Greater Mekong Subregion. After the process of area recovery and maintenance, a proposal will be submitted to the cabinet for consideration of transferring its management to the Udon Thani Provincial Administration.
The Deputy Government Spokesperson invited the public to visit the Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026 in Udon Thani province, as it will be an excellent opportunity to experience the diversity of plant species and the advancement of Thai agriculture while supporting tourism and local businesses. This will ultimately benefit the province and the Northeastern region as a whole.
