September 1, 2026, at 1500hrs, Government Spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek disclosed that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul is ready to welcome H.E. Mr. Lawrence Wong, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, who, upon the Thai Prime Minister’s invitation, will pay a visit to Thailand to attend the 5th Thailand–Singapore Leaders’ Retreat on September 2, 2026.

The Thailand–Singapore Leaders’ Retreat, the first in 11 years, will be an important opportunity for both leasers to review relations and set cooperation directions between Thailand and Singapore into the future, with a focus on achieving tangible outcomes in several cooperation areas, i.e., clean energy, rice trade, crossborder payment connectivity, tourism, and combating online scam. The two leaders will also exchange views on regional and international developments.

Additionally, both the Thai and Singaporean Prime Ministers will adopt the Joint Statement on Thailand-Singapore Forward-Looking Strategic Partnership which aims at driving forward mutual relations and building upon the strengths of both countries toward tangible outcomes that benefit the people.

The meeting will also significantly contribute to ASEAN cooperation, as Singapore and Thailand will successively assume ASEAN Chairmanship in 2027 and 2028. The two leaders will exchange views on future direction of the region and coordination approaches, with an aim to enhance ASEAN’s strength and unity amid rapidly evolving challenges.

Both leaders will also witness the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on social development between Thailand’s Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and Ministry of Social and Family Development of Singapore. The MOU is aimed at elevating cooperation in social dimensions and enhancing quality of life of the people.

In the afternoon of September 2, 2026, the Prime Ministers of both countries will attend the 5th Thailand–Singapore Leaders’ Retreat, followed by witnessing the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on social development and a joint press conference at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Bangkok. Later in the evening, the Thai Prime Minister will host a dinner in honor of the Prime Minister of Singapore at the Santi Maitri Building, Government House.
