July 7, 2026, Government Spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek disclosed that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has placed importance on the reform and streamlining of regulatory practices to ensure that public administration is carried out with greater efficiency and speed, in line with the policy statement delivered to the Parliament in April 2026. This includes elevating public administration standards, modernizing laws to meet international standards, strengthening the country’s credibility, and enhancing confidence of foreign investors. As becoming a member of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) would engender benefits to the Thai people, Government agencies have been integrating their effort to accelerate Thailand’s accession to OECD by 2028.

Additionally, the cabinet, in its meeting today, approved the drafting of an Agreement between Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) and OECD, as proposed by NESDC. Under this Agreement, OECD will provide knowledge support, analytical tools, and activities to assist in the preparation of the 14th National Economic and Social Development Plan. Scope of cooperation under the draft Agreement is divided into two phases, Phase 1: OECD will support strategic foresight process to analyze trends, uncertainties, and impacts on the country’s development direction; and Phase 2: OECD will co-design innovations and mechanisms for driving forward the plan through applying best practices from member countries in designing approaches.

The cabinet also approved in principle the draft Prime Minister’s Office Regulation on the Steering Committee for Thailand's Accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation, B.E. …. The Committee comprises 17 members, with the Prime Minister as Chair. Establishment of the committee will support effective and inclusive advancement of Thailand’s accession process to the OECD, and help expedite efforts to achieve the goal by 2028 through concrete and lawful mechanisms.
