On April 13, 2026, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul delivered a message on occasion of the Songkran Festival, Thai New Year 2026.
The Prime Minister extended love and best wishes to all the Thai people, both in Thailand and abroad. This year, the Government strives to preserve and promote Songkran as a global cultural event by showcasing diverse identities of Songkran traditions across different regions. These traditions highlight the everlasting beauty of the Thai society and reflect cultural heritage passed down from the ancestors to future generations.
Songkran is not only a festival, but also a time for family reunions, expressions of love, care, and filial piety to the elders, and family and community bondage. It is a time of happiness and smiles after a year of hard work.
On this occasion of Songkran and the Thai New Year 2026, the Prime Minister called for everyone to carry forward the nation’s cherished traditions and to be gracious hosts in welcoming international visitors. On behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister wished all the Thai people happiness, prosperity, family warmth, stability, and a society filled with love, unity, and harmony.
