Chinese Hong Kong businessmen express confidence in Thai economy

Mr. Chan King Wai, Vice Director of Committee for Economic Affairs of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (National Committee), and President of Hong Kong China Chamber of Commerce, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on the occasion of his visit to Thailand.

June 13, 2013, at 1000hrs, Mr. Chan King Wai, Vice Director of Committee for Economic Affairs of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (National Committee), and President of Hong Kong China Chamber of Commerce, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra at the Purple Room, Thai Khu Fah Building, Government House. Gist as follows:

PM Yingluck welcomed Mr. Chan King Wai and the delegation of Hong Kong China Chamber of Commerce (HKCHCC), and stated that the visit was a good opportunity to further reinforce relations between the two countries especially in business. Thailand expected to see more of the Chinese and Hong Kong businessmen to invest in the country particularly in the areas of renewable energy and agro processing where the Thai Government had come up with measures to support foreign investors and to cut corporate tax from 30% to 20%.

PM Yingluck also took the opportunity to invite the Chinese Hong Kong businessmen to invest in Thailand’s water management, and infrastructure projects which would be essentially significant for the Chinese connection to ASEAN.

Mr. Chan King Wai reaffirmed that China-Hong Kong was pleased to be part of the economic development in Thailand, and investment in the ASEAN region, especially during the implementation of ASEAN in 2015. He also stated that Chinese-Hong Kong businessmen have confidence in the potential of Thai economic growth, and prosperity under the administration of PM Yingluck.
