PM Yingluck and the CEO of Telenor Group discussed the investment issue of Total Access Communication Plc. (DTAC) of which Telenor Group is a shareholder. Telenor Group, through DTAC, has constantly invested in Thailand particularly in the high-speed internet system and telecommunication network development. DTAC also collaborates with Ministry of ICT in DTAC Free Wi-Fi Project which is considered very beneficial to the Thai Government’s policies on IT infrastructure development and One-tablet-per-child project. Both parties came to terms on further development of telecommunication technology in order to enable the people in remote areas to access more information and internet usage which would help enhance their quality of lives, education, and national competitiveness.
Both parties also discussed the significance of communication technology to medical and public health services. Since Thailand is becoming an aging society, communication technology on elderly care will be increasingly important. The discussion was also made on the issue of future collaboration between the Thai Government and the company on mobile application which is not only for the purposes of communication or entertainment, as well as on ICT development for ASEAN connectivity.
