Indian PM to visit Thailand

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of the Republic of India and wife are scheduled to pay an official visit as guests of the Thai Government during May 30-31, 2013, following an invitation made by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra after her official visit in India on January 24-26, 2013. The Indian Prime Minister will make a visit at the Government House on May 30, 2013 where he will be received with an official welcoming ceremony followed by a bilateral meeting between the two leaders.

According to the agenda of the bilateral meeting, Thailand and India will continue with the cooperation of mutual intent declared in January 2012 to upgrade relations between the two countries to full form of strategic partnership based on the foundations of democracy, human rights, and mutual interests in promoting growth and sustainable development. In addition, both premiers will review existing cooperation and consider new areas of collaborations particularly in the areas of economy, trade and investment. India is the most important ally of Thailand in the South Asian region, and a highly potential market. In 2012, Indo-Thai bilateral trade volume was US$8,674.87 million in total, an increase of 5.77%. On the occasion of the bilateral meeting, Thai and Indian Prime Ministers will witness a signing ceremony of 9 Agreements followed by a joint press conference.

PM Yingluck will also host a dinner reception in honor of the Indian Prime Minister and the delegation in the same evening. The Indian Prime Minister and the delegation will depart Thailand on May 31, 2013 at 0930hrs.

19:00            Prime Ministers of India and Thailand witness the signing ceremony of Agreements
