Discussion with president of Itochu Corp.: Itochu Corp. expressed interest in the joint investment in Dawei special economic zone and hoped for the Thai Government’s financial endorsement and measures to facilitate the private sector’s investment in Myanmar. At the same time, Itochu Corp. would like to be part of Thailand’s infrastructure development projects. PM Yingluck requested for Thai OTOP products to be marketed in department stores under the subsidiary of Itochu Corp.
Discussion with president of Mitsui & Co. Ltd.: Mitsui & Co. Ltd. was keen on the investment in high speed rail system, and would have a joint venture with a Thai company to establish a detergent manufacturing factory, the first of its kind in Thailand.
Discussion with president of NEC Corporation: PM Yingluck thanked NEC for its constant confidence given to Thailand during the Great Flood of 2011 through its expansion of business in the country, and invited NEC to invest in other areas such as high speed rail system, and water management projects. She also hoped for NEC’s technology transfer to Thailand.
Discussion with president of SMRJ: PM Yingluck invited Japanese SMEs to collaborate more with the Thai SMEs on which the SMRJ president agreed to work more closely with the Thai counterparts. He also agreed that SMEs was a core of Japanese economic development and expressed confidence that Thailand was a potential market for Japanese SMEs. According to the SMRJ president, at present, there were over 3,000 SMEs business investment in Thailand and was still on the rise.
