PM’s Office Minister stated on behalf of the Government that 3 major strategies are set as part of the Government’s transport infrastructure development project. They are: 1) strategy to shift transportation modes from road to a more cost-efficient mode; 2) strategy to develop infrastructure and facilities to connect the whole nation as well as the neighboring countries; and 3) strategy to develop and improve transportation system on the long-term basis.
Based on the three strategies, the Government has laid down an investment plan as a foundation for future development and competitiveness enhancement. Land, maritime, and aerial transportation connectivity will be systematically and efficiently implemented for the best interests of the whole nation and its people, and under the investment objectives to 1) push forward Thailand to become the ASEAN’s investment hub that connects with the neighboring countries; 2) spread economic prosperity and upgrade the quality of lives; and 3) enhance competitiveness both in the industrial and agricultural sectors.
PM’s Office Minister reiterated that the Government has set clear goals and intent to develop transportation system and high-speed rail system in order to enhance potential and advantage of Thailand’s strategic location and head toward being an “Asia’s transport hub”. He hoped that results and ideas brainstormed from the seminar would help mobilize and push forward transport infrastructure development of the country for the nation’s best interests and future.
