The CPPCC Vice Chairman expressed his pleasure to meet with PM Yingluck and reaffirmed the cordiality of Sino-Thai relations which had constantly been developed. The Chinese Government was pleased for Thailand and China to upgrade their relations to the level of “comprehensive strategic partnership” which would further strengthen mutual cooperation in all aspects, name it, politics, economy, as well as people-to people relations. Mr. Edmund Ho also commended the Government’s 1-tablet per child policy that it was a good idea to use technology to enhance study motivation among the students, and Macao was interested to adopt the scheme for its students as well.

Mr. Edmund Ho also mentioned the role of Thailand as the Sino-ASEAN Coordinator, and agreed with the Thai Government’s transportation development plan to connect ASEAN and Southern China which would certainly boost economic, trade and investment activities as well as people-to-people relations between Thailand, China, and other ASEAN countries. Mr. Edmund Ho also took the opportunity to invite PM Yingluck to attend and deliver a keynote speech at the 2nd Global Tourism Economy Forum to be hosted by Macao this September.

PM Yingluck congratulated Mr. Edmund Ho for his assumption of the position, Vice Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (national committee), and lauded Mr. Edmund Ho’s economic policy during his term as the Chief Executive of Macao SAR, particularly the effort to push forward Macao as a bridge to connect China, ASEAN, and the Portuguese-speaking countries which resulted in its continuous economic growth. PM Yingluck also thanked the CPPCC Vice Chairman for his invitation to the 2nd Global Tourism Economy Forum. According to PM Yingluck, the Thai Government fully realized that tourism was a significant scheme to promote economic growth, and this Forum would be a good platform for Thailand to promote its tourism image to the whole world. The Thai Government was, thus, pleased to accept the invitation.

The 1-tablet per child policy, and transportation project connecting China and ASEAN were, in fact, partly supported by the Chinese Government. The Thai Government sincerely hoped that Mr. Edmund Ho, in his capacity as the CPPCC Vice Chairman, would assist in the continuation of Sino-Thai mutual cooperation as well as the reinforcement of relations in the areas of trade and investment, and services.
