Thailand-Hungary to upgrade mutual relations

April 30, 2013, at 1500hrs, Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjen, and Deputy Speaker Janos Latorczai of the Hungarian National Assembly paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Phongthep Thepkanjana at the Yellow Room, Santi Maitree Building, the Government House. Gist as follows:

Deputy PM Phongthep welcomed the Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister and the Deputy House Speaker for their visit to Thailand, and congratulated close diplomatic relations between the two countries. Hungary is a significant alliance of Thailand in Europe. The fact that this year marks 40th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Hungary and Thailand makes it an opportunity to reinforce the mutual relations through exchange of visits between high-level officials of the two countries.

On this occasion, Deputy PM Phongthep thanked Hungary for the preparation in welcoming Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul who was scheduled to visit Hungary this coming June, and would pay a courtesy call on the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. Deputy PM Phongthep also appreciated that Hungarian Deputy Permanent Secretary for European Affairs, Mr. Gabor Baranyai, would attend the 2nd Asia-Pacific Water Summit to be held in Chiang Mai in May, in his capacity as the special representative of the President of Hungary.

Both parties also discussed the success of Hungary on constitutional amendment, and came to terms with the exchange between the two countries on the issue. In his visit to Thailand, the Hungarian Deputy House Speaker had met with the Thai Deputy House Speaker Charoen Chankomol which was considered a good opportunity to exchange views and experiences on legislature and law of the two countries.
