March 31, 2013, at 0830hrs, prior to the 2nd/2013 Cabinet retreat, PM Yingluck visited the exhibition on Thai textile products organized by the Ministry of Culture which exhibited various kinds of Thai textile such as Chok, Khid, Yok, Mudmee, Lai Nam Lai or Luang, and Koh Yor, that reflected diversity and suitability for the local weather, as well as true Thai identity. PM Yingluck was led and briefed by Culture Minister Sontaya Kunplome, and inquired about the procedure of hand-made cotton textile with interest.
The exhibition was held following the decision made by the cabinet to use Thai textile for both formal and informal outfits of the Cabinet members as another measure for its energy savings campaign. Design of the outfits would be the blend of Thai identity and modernity.
At the same occasion, PM Yingluck also visited the exhibition on prototyped agricultural land zoning management organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives. The exhibition displayed diverse projects of the Ministry which aimed to mobilize the country under 4 national strategies, namely, 1) to enhance national competitiveness; 2) to create opportunity within the structure of social justice and fairness; 3) to have the quality of life with environmental friendliness; and 4) to balance and improve public administrative management system.
There was also the display of information technology and communication system which had been used to support the policies of ‘Smart Farmer/Smart Officer’ and ‘One ID Card for Smart Farmer’ in order to upgrade the quality of food and agricultural products, properly manage areas of agricultural production and forestry, and elevate farmers’ competency to ‘smart farmers’ as part of the preparation for the launch of ASEAN Community in 2015.
