Former Italian PM commends the Government’s economic policy

March 21, 2013, at 0900hrs, Professor Romano Prodi, former Prime Minister of Italy and former President of the European Commission, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Yingluck Shinwatra at the Ivory Room, Thai Khu Fah Building, Government House on the occasion of his visit to Thailand as a keynote speaker for the 4th ASEAN event series “Bridges-Dialogue Towards a Culture of Peace”. Army lieutenant Sunisa Lertpakawat, Government’s deputy spokesperson revealed detail of the meeting as follows:

Former Prime Minister of Italy and former President of the European Commission commended the Government’s economic policy which had brought about continuous growth to Thai economy. He also expressed his support for Thailand to be the hub of ASEAN considering its strategic location and the connectivity with sub-regional neighboring countries.

On this occasion, PM Yingluck congratulated EU for its ability to solve the economic crises.  She expressed her confidence in the potential of Italy and other European countries, and reaffirmed Thai-European cooperation promotion. According to PM Yingluck, ASEAN Community would apply the lessons learnt from EU for its future operation.
